Governor Herbert has asked for feedback on the Common Core Standards. Send him an overwhelming, undeniable message that the standards are strongly opposed by going to the Governor’s special website to take a Common Core survey. The survey ends on August 31st, 2014.

This is something every person can do to make a difference. If every person on the UACC petition list (over 11,000) will post comments, and if every person asks his spouse/student/parent/grandparent/neighbor to do so, it will send a loud and clear message that opposition is building.
Don’t spend too much time on it. Just get it done. You don’t have to be a standards expert to have experience and an important opinion. This survey is asking for the average Utahn to voice his or her feelings about Common Core.
Feel free to quote the experts in your commentary– Dr. James Milgram, who served on the official validation committee for the Common Core math standards and refused to sign off on their academic legitimacy, should not be ignored by the Utah State School Board. If the Governor gets few responses, his pro-Common Core standards review committee will take it to mean that most Utahns accept or approve of Common Core.

Get rid of common core across the country before it zombiefies our children! They will be drones if this keeps up ! Invasion of privacy for the kids and the parents !!!! Tracking devices I hear are next !! Not on my kids ! And no chip implants !!

Common Core hurts children at an early stage in their development. It lowers their self-esteem by frustrating them with unnecessary confusion in math problems. This highly scripted curriculum robs children of all possible joy in learning they might otherwise have. Common Core will only succeed in widening the economic gap, making school harder & super stressful for children and their parents.
I DO NOT BELIEVE IN COMMON CORE. I KNOW THAT MATH SHOULD BE OUR HIGHEST CONCERN FOR OUR STUDENTS. ALL I HEAR FROM KIDS IS I WILL NEVER YOU THIS, WHY DO I NEED TO LEARN IT. IF YOU STOP AND THINK ABOUT YOUR DAILY THINGS YOU DO, OR THE THINGS YOU PLAY YOU USE MATH. IF YOU PLAY POOL YOU USE TRIG. YOU DO ANGLES, FOR ALL YOUR SHOTS. IF YOU BUILD SOMETHING, YOU HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO WORK A LEVEL, OR READ A BLUE PRINT. ARE WE GROWING STUPID IN OUR OLD AGE. LETS DROP THIS STUPID STUFF, AND GET BACK TO THE ABC’S READING, WRITING AND MATH. LETS NOT DUMB DOWN OUR KIDS. LETS MAKE AMERICAN GREAT AGAIN……..
